Talia Steinman is an artist and arts administrator working in New York City. Through an intuitive process with mixed media, she renders amorphous, sensuous, and whimsical 2D and 3D spaces.
She decontextualizes, transfers, and layers materials and imagery — often sourced from her own photographs, gestural marks, or fragments of previous projects — to call attention to minutiae. Her media and techniques often include: collage, Riso printing, analog and iphone photography, textiles, painting, drawing, digital manipulation, and bookmaking.
An ethos of play drives her work, emphasizing experimentation, ambiguity, wonder, and intimacy.
Outside of her personal practice, Talia is the Curriculum Coordinator / Assistant to the Chair in the SVA BFA Photography and Video department.
